Flatiron Building NYC

This triangular building was erected in 1902. Its steel  structure is clad in limestone and terra cotta. The design is Chicago Early Modern, the decoration beaux arts style.

Originally called the Fuller Building, it stands at 175 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. At 286 feet in height, this was the first true skyscraper to grace the skyline of the Big Apple. A national landmark and an enduring mecca for tourists,
this handsome historic building has been home to various New York-based publishing houses.

But why the name? It is said that the triangular shape of the site resembled that of the flatiron, then the most updated household tool for smoothing clothes.
