Hestia

Hestia was the goddess of the hearth. Her duties concerned not only the municipal fireside but those of each individual home.
She was associated with family meals, communal feasts, and the cooking of bread, and whenever the gods received offerings, she was given a portion.
Both Apollo and Poseidon requested her hand in marriage, but with permission from Zeus, she chose to remain a virgin.
Many images of Hestia show her modestly veiled, holding a flowering branch of the chaste tree, a herb often used for female complaints.
