In the beautiful country between
Revelstoke and Sicamous, an important historic site lies just off Highway 1.
In Gaelic, Craigellachine means rocky hill and also a
malt whisky from a town of the same name in Scotland. Here in BC, it marks the spot where the
Last Spike was driven in 1885 to complete the sea-to-sea railway, the CPR. Today Canadian Pacific freight trains still travel this line. A small museum commemorates the place.
