A bend in the river near Hope

One of BC's great salmon rivers, the Fraser turns west at Hope. The bend that's visible in the center of the picture represents a major change in the flow. Downstream from this near forty-five degree bend, the river slows and widens as it flanks the fertile farmlands of the wide Fraser Valley. The narrow Hell's Gate canyon lies just upstream.
